VISA APS Jobs in France

VISA APS (Autorisation Provisioire de Séjour) FOR JOBS IN FRANCE FOR FOREIGNERS UPON COMPLETION OF STUDIES – JOB SERACH VISA

France now allows students at the end of their studies after obtaining a degree in higher education to apply for a Temporary residence permit, or APS (for "Autorisation Provisioire de Séjour") to look for a job or start a Company.

This permit allows students to stay in France for one year (+1 year for students from India) upon completion of studies. This one-year period can be used to look for a job or create a Company.

During this one year period Foreign students can also work as if they were students upto 634 hrs per year or 20 hours per week until they sign a CDD (full time short term contract) or a CDI (full time indefinite contract).

WHO CAN REQUEST A TEMPORARY RESIDENT PERMIT?

The Temporary Resident Permit is accessible to foreign students who:

have a Licence Professionelle (vocational degree); have a Master's-level degree or equivalent such as an Engineering degree, a degree from an institute of political studies (IEP), a higher accounting and management degree, a veterinary degree, etc;

have a specialist Master's;

have a Master's of Science (MSc) certified by the Conférence des Grandes Ecoles;

wish to start their own company.

PROCEDURE:

The APS is done upon request (often without a need for appointment) at your préfecture (or the Préfécture de Police for Paris) up until the last day of validity of your current student permit. Check on Govt. Site if you could apply online.

Do not wait until the end moment of your student visa expiry. Try to apply for APS visa right away once the course is finished.

You would need the following documents (with photocopies, of course):

-Passport

-Three (3) passport pictures

-Your current student ID

-Your diploma
–> Note that you most likely will not have this yet BEFORE your visa expires. You can submit to the préfécture an attestation de réussite (a certificate of completion) and usually this suffices.
–> Some have been required to go back with their actual diplomas. So double check.

-Some would request for a proof of accommodation (justificatif de domicile)

The visa is free. Important to note that you cannot apply for APS once your student visa is expired.

When your APS expires, you must change your status and request a residency permit adapted to your situation.
